Echizen Washi

 There is an art shop in Fukui City where I often go to buy colors or tools for my paintings. The other day I joined a lecture for how to use colors produced by Holbein Works, Ltd. It's a Japanese company in Osaka, but I didn't know it's a Japanese one until my mentor told me that he uses for his art works. 

They have 108 colors for water color paintings. It's a interesting number for Japanese because in Buddhism idea human beings have 108 desires and passions. On New Year Eve monks hit a gong for 108 times.

Very interesting.

But anyway, it's a good opportunity for me to learn about their colors. And the teacher was my friend ! She and I sometimes talk at the shop about Echizen Washi, she as a seller and me as a maker and user....
