A Show about Washi and Japanese Paintings2011.12.09

photo01

If you live in Fukui, please go and check at the prefectural art museum.

It's all about Echizen Washi with Japanese well known artists such as Taikan Yokoyama. Lots of artists visited here to have their ideal paper for their works around early 1900s.

It says Japanese paintings had been drawn on silk, which limited in size, but Konan Naito, a famous Japanese historian, asked Heizaburo Iwano ( now Mr. Heizaburo Iwano in Otaki is the third ) to create a good paper made using hemp.

There is no English translations, but you can see some great art works.

DATE : Nov 27th - Dec 25th
