MO-CHI2013.01.23

photo01

This is what we call mochi in Japanese made of rice. My neighbor gave me saying ` We made mochi for the Big Cold `.

I didn't know there was that kind of mochi. Dai-kan, literally  meaning ` Big Cold `. It is one of the twenty - four seasons in Asian countries. This year it started from January 20th and will continue until February 3rd. During that time they say the water is very good for your health and it lasts for long time.

So , back to the topic, MOCHI made with water in this season is very good. Some people in the village seem to send many mochis to their families and relatives to the other areas.

Well, I didn't know about that. Sometime here I can learn some traditional Japanese culture, which fascinates me a lot like as a foreigner. Then I often go ask people about the details, then they don't know well about the background. This is exactly what happens to me when I am asked by friends in overseas.
