A book sent from my friend 2016.07.15
Thanks for the book ! It was a very nice surprise. As soon as I finished teaching I opened a book to find something interesting. It was about Rembrandt. Even here in the book the author only refers to the trade VOC had with Japan at Dejima, Nagasaki. Before Dejima, they also had started their trade at Hirado, Nagasaki. And there is a record of one trade in 1636 that they had shipped 5,800 sheets of Japanese paper, Torinoko, then. Rembrandt could have used washi more than people in the academy expect nowadays. I hope the truth will be known well.
