Translation 2016.06.25
I was asked to translate a paper product in English. The papermaker here looked at it and said, " Wow. Do you need to put it into that long English !? " Well, I just tried to explain well especially the last part so that we could avoid the possible misunderstandings.
Sample part was my idea. Usually papermakers don't understand the users' need. I told her just a small sheet can be helpful to check how ink spreads. Having thought samples should be something special, she was surprised to hear my words and said, " A small sheet can be fine ??? That's easy to do. "
She brought cups of ice cream to thank for my translation. I told her I don't have a fridge to keep that many for my stock. I asked for their handmade paper, the biggest one instead.
Maybe you'll see the product at somewhere airports in Japan with my translation checked by my mentor.
