Echizen Washi

A new week has started after Kami Festival ( May 3rd - 5th ). Well, every studio here got back their work from May 7th, though.

This year I had quite unique visitors from Mexico, Tokyo, Hokkaido and Sweden.... One night we had a big party at my house. A Living National Treasure, Ichibei Iwano, made a speech in the end of the party and sang a papermaking song for us. He said in the speech I was a very important person in the village with lots of talent and experiences and that everyone should know that. 

While my friends were staying at my house, I kept painting as usual. I used Chinese paper for most of them, but Mr. Mentor told me I should use Echizen paper living in the village. Well that is totally true.

Now I'm sitting by the computer at Udatsu Museum checking emails after a long long absence. Before here, I tried Echizen paper painting one of the artisans this afternoon. I will try to update some to tell you about the festival....
