Visiting Ichibei Iwano 2014.08.22
A wonderful couple from Portugal visited me the other day. It was a very hot and humid day.
Some people think we don't make paper in summer, but of course we do all around the year !
In summer it's not easy to have good ` neri` , tororoaoi, because of the heat. Ms. Iwano was preparing neri when we were visiting. Usually artisans use only one kind of neri, but for his papermaking they use two kinds of neri; tororoaoi and noriutsugi. The latter is produced in Hokkaido, nothern Japan !
