A Speech on Jan 5th 2014.01.06

photo01

There were 130 people sitting to listen to my story about Echizen Washi. They were all teachers for calligraphy. I only took one photo just before they were coming. Once I started talking time flushed sooo fast, and I was handed a paper saying ` there are only 5 minutes left ! Please be ready to finish soon !! ` .

Well, I didn't watch time and didn't have a paper that I would read, wondering ` Well, when should I finish ? `

The paper samples I brought for their calligraphy were very much welcome and they were all very happy.

I talked about my experience in China, how I learned ink brush art in China, how I used paper then, why I came to this village, how much I got bored to copy masterpieces in China and ended up to concentrate on climbing mountains in China ` to learn mountains for paintings `. ........ so many things that I wanted to tell. One hour was not enough for me.

They want to use Echizen Washi for their works, but they always buy Chinese paper because they cannot get enought information about our paper. So, I also told them about Echizen Washi, of course, and suggested maybe I could be helpful for them to find their own paper.

Besides, my eyes are very good enough to see each face very clearly, so I tried not to make people feel sleepy.

It seems that I could make a good start for New Year 2014.
