A Show in NYC ( 1 )2013.11.02
I visited the show on Oct 22nd when was the last day at the Consulate General of Japan in NYC.
In Hangzhou, China 1996 and in Beijing 1999, I studied Chinese sumi ink paintings, but I was not patient enough to sit by the desk only to copy old master pieces. I rather learned mountain hiking in 1996 because my Chinese teachers said ` If you want to paint mountains, you have to experience mountains. ` I am sure they didn't mean to focus on only this, but to me it was everything.
And in 1999 in Beijing, again, I got tired of copying, so I went out very often to go climbing mountains, playing kendo, or a matial art organized a Suisse guy. People might have thought I came to China only to play sports !
But somehow Sumi ink has been fascinating me so much.
My work this time is decorated at the entrance gate on the front; expressing Ying & Yang. The title is ` Dui Lian `, which means one of Chinese styles for poem.
