My Work as A Picture-Story Show 2012.08.10

Mr. Kako Satshi was in charge with the final judgement for the contest. His picture books have been read by lots of children in Japan. My sister and I enjoyed them a lot when we were very small. His books always remided me of my early stage living in Aichi prefecture until eight. The book in the 2nd photo is about a crow family of a bread shop, which is also well known in Japan.

Because we wanted to have a chance to have our work  read by him,  we joined the contest; my sister writing the story and me drawing the pictures . The result was that we won the first prize ! I cannot believe it.... Now the copyright is Echizen city's, so I cannot show you here the work. But it will be exhibited at the Echizen Public Hall.

Before the phone call telling me the first prize, I had been to listen to his story in Takefu area. Mr. Kako is now eighty-five, but he still has a strong passion on making picture books considering how he can let children have eagerness in growing themselves up and learning for themselves. His books are very simple, but now I know he has lots of message for children.

This time I won the prize with my sister. This means a lot especially after I decided to spend less in papermaking but more in creating my art works.

Hope you understand my confusing English !
