An Artisan in His Seventies2012.06.04

photo01

He, Icchan, used to work at Jiyomon Paper Studio almost every day. I made this woodblock painting six years ago.

My friend found this post card being sold at Kami Festival last May. The price was 200 JPY.... 50JPY for handmade post card made in Jiyomon Paper Studio, and I made the woodblock and printed it with a short poem. It should have cost more than 200 yen. But of course I'm not famous enough and haven't tried hard yet to let people know about my work.

What is art ? Who made its price ?

Those are always big questions when I face with art.

In the end, I bought it for myself. Very sinical, but I'm learning something.
