Susan and Felix from the Netherlands2014.10.03
It was their first time to visit Japan.
Japan must be a mysterious country for people from Western countries who have never been here. You cannot use your credit card everywhere and have to be sure to have certain amount of cash especiall in the countryside. What we eat must look odd too. I love raw fish and raw eggs. We use chopsticks all the time for every meal, and we bow all the time for greetings or whatever. You have to take off your shoes and change slippers from the hall way to tatami rooms. Sleeping on futon could be another challenge. People also would worry about toilett. Mine at an old house is a very old style, half modern, but you don't have to worry this. Most of public toiletts here are clean.
When I introduce my village, I don't hesitate to say I love Japan and I'm pround of my country just as you are for your own. But first of all I will have to tell visitors I'm not ordinally Japanese whose aesthetic is in their humbleness !
