Echizen Washi

I was visiting Mary, my friend in Boston for a few days before I went to NY. She and I spent together in Hangzhou, China in 1996 as an English teacher and a student at Hangzhou Teachers' College. I was the first foreign student in Art Department in school at that time. 

Every time I had some difficulties with my lovely Chinese friends over the war issues, I came over to Mary's room sometimes to cry, sometimes to ask for the second opinions. She helped me a lot and gave me lots of love.

After I moved to the paper village here in Echizen, we hadn't talked very much. It was totally new to her about my career in papermaking and art works later on.

Nothing has changed at her house. I visited her in Boston in 1999. It takes only about 15min to get to the beach.
