I don't get used to be in a city. Of course, it is very convenient to have services or goods, anything you need very quickly IF you have money.

But when I was in Beijing in 1999-2000 to study ink & brush art being surrounded by new buildings, I felt everything was so artificial that I didn't feel like creating my works...  You're right that great artists will create their master piece wherever they are, but I just couldn't enjoy going out to sketch and draw the sceneries. That's all why I chose this Echizen Washi Village for my residence since then...

But it seems that my mother was different. She, who shared a room with me at the hotel, was so excited that she woke up very early and couldn't wait to go for an early walk.

Well,  the Bay Bridge WAS beautiful.
