Echizen Washi

During the cleaning after the heavy rain, there were lots of people coming to help at the Jiyomon Paper Studio.  Fusae - san who is 84 and the owner's mother  didn't feel at ease watching them cleaning. She just felt bad she couldn't do anything and had to ask for people's help.

I can understand this feelings. I think people want to help some how rather than doing nothing to do in front of people in need.  Also, in Japan, especially in the countrysides, if they are helped, they tend to feel having owed something to the helpers. This is really interesting. 

I remember my American friends told me that I didn't have to do something for them in return but to do something for different people.

Anyways, Fusae-san has felt really tired blaming herself doing nothing but asking for others' help...
