Sweets at JR Fukui Station !2011.12.04
The other day in Fukui city, I joined a business talk as a translator in Chinese. It's always difficult to see what Chinese people really mean to us, because I think Chinese people always expect us to have the same culture, habits and thoughts implying some other meanings in their words.
But the truth is that we ARE very different ! I always hope Chinese people understand that Japan has its own history and culture for ourselves though we appear to be same faces. They might say ` we already understand `, but they don't.
Anyway, every time I go to Fukui City, there is a place that I go to buy a certain sweets for my friends here. It's one of the Habutae-mochis , a kind of sticky rice. ` Habutae` means ` beautiful textile. Fukui has had a big textile industry in its history, so we have a sweets named after `habutae ` a lot.
The one I love can be purchased only at two places; the pruduction company in Katsuyama City and JR Fukui Station in Fukui City.
Please try when you get on or off at JR Fukui Station !!! Nuts in it play a big role to have a good taste, I believe.
