Red color is usually for the good things in Japan while in China the color takes much bigger role as you can see in the national flag. So, the rice is made with red beans and is called ` red rice `, seki-han in Japanese.

Long time ago, people used to invite their relatives and friends to have dinner together for the festivals serving special dishes with red rice. But this costum is getting less and less.

I sometimes have a chance to receive a share of the rice ( see in the first pic ). The chestnuts were from the backyard of Jiyomon Paper Studio that I had picked the other day. I love this village life a lot.
