There is a club learning about WASHI in Okamoto Elementary School supported by the local artisans of Echizen Washi. They also plant KOZO and grow the material. So, children here can tell you what the materials are for papermaking and how to make paper by hand. I couldn't answer those questions about paper when I was a child !
