Visitors from Norway2011.03.03

They were paper conservators and visited some of the paper studios here in Echizen. There're more than 30 handmade paper studios here and the quantity of the prudoction is the largest  in Japan. But it's always difficult for me to decide whether it is good or not to show outside visitors our paper studios.

Please imagine what you'd feel if people come in just to see your office work...

But on the other hand, few people know about our paper as the visitors from Norway were very surprised to see how beautiful the paper Mr.Ichibei Iwano makes is. So at this point, Echizen Washi should be introduced a lot more to tell other people in the world how good our paper quality is.

They were very polite and nice yesterday, so it's also my pleasure to be a guide for them.          Thank you !

( first one : visiting Umeda Washi)

(second one : visiting Mr.Ichibei Iwano, a national living treasure explaining how to use his paper for conservation)
