Echizen Washi

Otaki district has 10 groups devided by the several families. And each group has its own party to communicate each other and talk about the plan for the next year.

First off, we had a short serious meeting and then we changed the room to have dinner.

Those people in the pictures are all in a relative relationship somehow. They often told me they married within the same area because they wanted to keep the special technique of papermaking within Otaki. Daughters were not allowed to marry men who lived outside. However, I'm the only one outsider, so I always enjoy listening their very unique culture.

In the end we discussed a lot about Otaki's history like how they've kept their papermaking tradition for 1500 years.
