A Festival for Mountain God2010.12.09
My grandmother was a Christian, so I understand it'll be difficult for some Christians to accept our idea in Shintoism, which believes in lots of gods in nature like water and so on.
But today, December 9th, we celebrate for the god in mountain, especially in our region. As I didn't know it until I came here, few people know about the tradition.
My coworker has made hundreds of rice cakes for the god every year on Dec 9th for fifty years since she married with her husband, because his job is to make washi tools like mould from wood. She thanks for the god for her family's business.
She says the weather is not really good every year on this day.... it seems to be true !
